"When we look back at all that has happened to us, we easily divide our lives into good things to be grateful for and bad things to forget. But with a past divided we cannot move freely into the future . . . True spiritual gratitude embraces all of our past, the good as well as the bad events, the joyful as well as the sorrowful moments . . . we want to remember all of it as God’s guidance . . . even the bad did not happen out of the loving presence of God."
Henri Nouwen

Wow Betsy,
This quote is SO true and pretty much sums up life. The key is to find balance somewhere in the middle of it all and realize we learn from both good and bad times. I know I sure have in my 60 years of life and still have more balancing to do. I pray that you are doing as good as you can and the days are gentle on you.

I have found that through bad times I can fully appreciate good times. I take a lot less things for granted.
Betsy,
A quote that has had special meaning for me:
"Some choices will choose you. How you face these choices ... is what will define the context of your life." - Dana Reeve
